PICNICの季節がやって来ました。

WIFE＆HUSBANDはコーヒー屋であり、またピクニック屋でもあります。
コーヒー屋さんとして、いつも、
「美味しさ」と「ホッとする時間」を届けたいと思っています。
そして、ピクニック屋さんとしてなら、、、
「楽しさ」や「幸せ」もお届けできるのでは、と思うのです。

今まで沢山の方にW&Hのピクニックを楽しんで頂きました。何でもない休日、本を読んだり、絵を描いたり、友人とお喋りしたり、ただただのーんびりと過ごしたり、思い思いに過ごされました。結婚の記念日だったり、プロポーズをしたり、特別な一日を過ごされた方もいらっしゃいました。ピクニックから帰ってこられる時、行く前により笑顔になって戻ってこられるのが印象的でした。

そんな、ある日のピクニックで飲んだ一杯のコーヒー。
それが思い出と結びついて、ふとした瞬間にまた飲みたくなる。
“特別な味”として誰かの記憶に残るとしたら、これ以上に嬉しいことはありません。


「PICNIC」を最初に作ったのはW&H６周年の時でした。
周年記念ならば、一番W&Hらしいブレンドを作ろうと考えました。
そしてW&Hらしい名前をと選んだのが「PICNIC」でした。
でも、W&Hらしい味わいのコーヒーと言えば、すでにW&Hオープンと同時に作った「DAUGHTER」がありました。優しい深煎りのそれは、今でも変わらず、最もW&Hらしく、W&Hのど真ん中のブレンドコーヒーです。
そこで、６年の時を経て、あらためてW&Hのど真ん中の味を作ったらどうなるだろう？と、W&Hオープンの時と同じテーマに、６年目の感性を以って開発に取り組みました。
「PICNIC」以前に作った数々のブレンドは全て、味のベースとなる産地の豆をまず決めて、そこに２種の違う産地の豆を加える形で、新たな味わいを産み出してきました。
ですが「PICNIC」では、まず最初に味の完成図をイメージしました。
そして、その完成図にパズルのピースを当てはめるように、豆をブレンドしていきました。
結果、ベースとなる味を持たずに完成図をぴったりと埋めるために、ブレンドの中で唯一４種類の産地の豆をブレンドし、「PICNIC」は出来上がりました。

Picnic season is here.

WIFE&HUSBAND is a coffee shop, but we are also a picnic shop.
As a coffee shop, we have always wanted to offer delicious coffee and moments of comfort and relaxation.
And as a picnic shop, we believe we can offer something more — joy and happiness.
Over the years, so many people have enjoyed picnics with W&H.

Some have spent an ordinary day off reading books, drawing pictures, chatting with friends, or simply taking their time and doing nothing at all.
Others have celebrated wedding anniversaries, proposed to their loved ones, or spent a truly special day together.
What has always stayed with me is the way people return from their picnics with even bigger smiles than when they left.
A cup of coffee enjoyed on a picnic one day.
If that cup of coffee becomes connected to a cherished memory, and one day, out of the blue, someone finds themselves wanting to taste it again…
If it remains in someone's memory as a “special taste,” nothing could make us happier.

We first created “PICNIC” for W&H's 6th anniversary.
For our anniversary, we wanted to create a blend that would represent W&H more than anything else.
And when it came to choosing a name that felt truly W&H, we chose “PICNIC.”
But we already had “DAUGHTER,” a blend we created when W&H first opened, which embodied the very essence of W&H.
With its gentle, deep-roasted flavor, DAUGHTER remains, to this day, the blend that represents W&H most faithfully — the very heart of who we are.
So, six years after opening, I began to wonder:
What would happen if we tried to create another blend that captured the very heart of W&H, all over again?

With the same theme we had in mind when W&H first opened, but with the sensibilities we had developed over those six years, we set out to create a new blend.
Every blend we had created before PICNIC began with the same approach: first, we would choose coffee beans from a particular origin to form the foundation of the flavor, then add beans from two other origins to create something new.
But with PICNIC, we took a different approach.
First, we imagined the complete flavor we wanted to achieve.
Then, like fitting pieces into a puzzle, we blended the beans together, searching for the perfect combination to complete that picture.
As a result, rather than building the flavor around a single base, we combined beans from four different origins — making PICNIC the only blend in our lineup to use four origins — until every piece of our imagined flavor fell perfectly into place.
And that is how “PICNIC” was born.

We hope you will enjoy tasting it alongside “DAUGHTER” — another blend that captures the very heart of W&H.
